MBA-209F -- Fundamentals of Business: An Introduction to Business for Graduate Students

In Spring 2008 the Haas School of Business will offer MBA 209F -- Fundamentals of Business for the seventh time.  This is a course specifically designed for graduate students in schools other than Haas (and will serve as an elective course for their degree programs).

Many UC Berkeley graduate students will go on to work in business and even those who continue their research careers will spend much of their professional lives interacting with business people.  The purpose of the course is to introduce non-business students to the vocabulary of business and to understand how business people analyze problems and determine strategy.

The course is taught in three, five-week modules:

        1. Organizational Behavior and Management
        2. Accounting and Finance
        3. Marketing and Strategy

The class meets once a week, from 6:10 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in Andersen Auditorium (F295 Haas School of Business).  There is no final exam, but each module is followed by a two-hour in-class exam from 6-8PM on the Tuesday following each module; each module also has a required short term paper.

Unlike other MBA courses, students can enroll in MBA 209F directly, via Telebears.  The course control number is 08913.
