COURSE OVERVIEW: The goal of the course is to help
students prepare for investment management careers in PE, VC, IM, and Asset
Management. The speaker series aims to help students, especially first years,
with skills building. The class will increase students’ exposure to various
roles in investing and provide base-line knowledge for transitioning into an
investing role for the summer. This course is most relevant to those interested
in careers in investing.
Leveraging previous experience, instructors and speakers will explore
some of the technical sides of financial analysis (DCF & LBO training,
industry overview analysis, and preparing investment memos/stock pitches for
equity, credit, private equity, and VC). The professionals invited to will
focus on cases, deals, investment memos, and the investment process. Many are
junior partners, VPs, Associates, or principals at their respective firm. Their
experiences give students interested in buy-side finance a better perspective
on the day to day work for an investor.
