ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an interactive, highly dynamic and deeply engaging approach to leading innovation.  They will learn a structured approach to a real life challenge that combines best of breed of design thinking, innovation strategy, and entrepreneurship. The course will take place at THNK School of Creative Leadership in Amsterdam. THNK’s curriculum draws on many different schools of thought from design thinking to performing arts and creativity to entrepreneurship at scale to business strategy thinking.
The class consists of three parts: (1) a face-to-face session at Berkeley for which some pre-work is required (2) a five-day immersion into the challenge which will take place at THNK School of Creative Leadership in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (3) offline pre-work and post-work for the face-to-face session at Berkeley and post-work on the immersion experience.
During the class, you will get to put into practice a number of the concepts taught in Problem Finding, Problem Solving as well as gaining familiarity with a number of new innovation tools and frameworks.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:

Rajiv Ball is a member of the Professional Faculty at the Haas School of Business where he teaches a number of leadership topics from design-thinking to story-telling to relationship-building. A resident of The Netherlands, he is a Partner at THNK School of Creative Leadership where he is responsible for their leadership curriculum and Corporate Programs. Previously, he was a partner with McKinsey & Company for 13 years where he worked in oil and gas and retail. During his final years at McKinsey, he was responsible for the leadership development of 1,500 Partners globally. He has a BA in History from the University of Cambridge and a MSc and PhD in Economic History/Development Economics from the London School of Economics.
