This course will meet on the following dates: 9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2 and 10/9

PREREQUISITE(S): None

CLASS FORMAT: This six-week speaker series features associate to manager-level marketers who will share details on marketing roles in their company/industry and review a real-life situation with the class. Each class will have one to two speakers from various industries (CPG, Tech, Retail, Healthcare, etc.) with the goal of educating students on marketing problems and solutions across industries and functions.

At the end of each class, students will be expected to contribute to Q&A and classroom discussion with the presenter(s). After class, the speaker(s) will go out to dinner with a small group of 4-6 students for networking and further discussion.

REQUIRED READINGS/ASSIGNMENT: Students attending dinner with the speaker will be required to give a quick introduction at the beginning of class and provide a 1-2 page company overview to all class members prior to the class session. All class attendees are required to review the company overview prior to class.

BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE: Course will be graded on a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis and will be based on: attendance*, company write-up and speaker introductions and class participation.

ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:

The objective of this course is to expose students to various marketing career tracks, functions, and skill sets through structured presentations and cases by marketing professionals. Through the discussions that follow the presentations, students will have the opportunity to explore the landscape of professional opportunities in marketing, real-world marketing scenarios and gain valuable advice from marketing professionals on their roles and responsibilities.  Learn the language and key concepts of marketing and network with some of the most well-known companies across industries. Please note that this course is only open to members of the Haas Marketing Club (if you are not a member, you’ll have to join the club to attend the speaker series).
