9/12, 9/19, 9/26 and 10/3.
PREREQUISITE(S): None.
CLASS FORMAT: Workshops with case practice, lecture, and student
and/or industry speakers.
REQUIRED READINGS: “Case in Point”, by Marc Consentino; Additional cases
from other sources will be assigned.
BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE: Class attendance & participation
ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES: This course has been
designed to help students prepare for case interviews. It is tailored to the
consulting interview process, but will also be of use to students pursuing all
industries that have case interviews as part of their recruiting process.
The main goal is to strengthen students’ basic skills required to
succeed during the interview process and facilitate effective case practice in
advance of the recruiting season. Specific topics will include:
- Overview of the consulting recruiting process
- Overview of the case interview
- Designing frameworks for case interviews
- Case math & dealing with data
- Presentation skills
- Giving cases
- Non-standard case types (e.g. written cases)
- Designing a practice regimen
