ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT
AND OBJECTIVES: The objective of MBA294.7 is to provide students with a general
introduction to the various segments of the real estate industry through
discussions led by local professionals.
Industry segments that may be addressed include commercial and
residential development, REITS, private equity, investment banking, brokerage,
investment sales, consulting, homebuilding, lending, affordable housing, and
asset management.
Topics discussed will include an overview of
the speaker’s particular market segment, current industry trends, and career
path strategies. Students are expected
to come to class with a general understanding of the speaker’s background, ask
questions that will clarify material included in the formal presentation and
raise issues not otherwise covered.
This course is appropriate
for students interested in gaining a practical overview of the real estate
industry as well as for first and second year students
intent on pursuing careers in the industry.
