CLASS FORMAT: Two to three panelists
will deliver separate presentations related to the topic of the week. The last
hour of class will consist of discussion and Q&A among the panelists and
class participants.
As part of the class, student teams
will be asked to deliver a short presentation to introduce the week's topic at
the start of each session. Sign-up for this will take
place in the weeks leading up to class (coordinated by Alex Chun).
BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE: Attendance.
ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND
OBJECTIVES: To provide an in-depth overview of the key topics in renewable
energy and clean technology, particularly with respect to current technologies,
market conditions, technology commercialization, policy considerations, and
interfacing with utilities.
COURSE OVERVIEW: The course will look
at energy from a number of perspectives including: Renewable Generation
Technologies (Solar, Wind, Geothermal), Smart
Grid, Energy Storage, Electric Vehicles, Energy Efficiency, Biofuels, and
Venture Capital/Financing. Each week the course will focus on a different topic
along the spectrum. The presentations will have a range of depth and in some
cases will be broad overviews and in other instances will be somewhat
technical. Thus, the course is appropriate for all knowledge levels, from
industry veterans to newcomers.
