MEETING DAY(S)/TIME: Tuesdays, 4-6PM, Fall A only
This course will meet on 8/30, 9/6, 9/13, 9/20,
9/27 and 10/4.
CLASS FORMAT: This six-week speaker series will
introduce aspiring marketers to the field, by learning from successful
marketers about what their jobs entail and getting practical advice for
pursuing an internship and career in marketing.
Each class will feature two different speakers from
dynamic Bay-area companies, including marketers from some of the most sought
after tech, startup, social impact, CPG, and consulting firms. Thematic topics
will range from data innovations to what to expect for your first years after
the MBA.
At the end of each session, students will
have the opportunity for Q&A and classroom discussion with the featured speaker
and presenter. After class, the speaker(s) will go out to dinner with a small
group of 4-6 students for networking and further discussion.
REQUIRED READINGS/ASSIGNMENT: Students will be
expected to research each weeks speakers and companies
to prepare questions for discussion, particularly those attending dinner with
the speakers.
BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE: Course will be graded on a
Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis and will be based on attendance.
Students may only miss one class. Please email Kelsey
and Naomi in advance if you will be absent.
ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND
OBJECTIVES:
The objective of this course is to expose students
to various marketing career tracks, functions, and skill sets through
interactive presentations and discussion with marketing professionals. Learn
what marketing means across a variety of industries and verticals, and network
with some of the most well-known companies across industries.
