CLASS FORMAT: Guest speakers and discussion
COURSE OVERVIEW: Featuring guest speakers from leading organizations in the
education sector, this course will provide an overview of the education
industry for students interested in pursuing a career or learning about it.
BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE: Grade will be pass/fail, based on class attendance and
participation. No more than one absence allowed.
ABSTRACT OF COURSE CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES: Sponsored by the Haas Education Club, this one-unit seminar
class will provide an overview of the education industry. Students will hear
from leaders in the for-profit, non-profit and public sector and learn about edtech, venture capital investment in education, charter
schools, education reform and other trends shaping education in the US and
globally. The course aims to provide an introduction to multiple facets of
education for all students, ranging from those actively pursuing a career in
education to those simply interested in learning about it.
