ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
Social Sector Solutions (S3) develops students’ skills in management
consulting, problem solving, persuasion, and project management, while
increasing their knowledge of the entrepreneurial challenges of leading
nonprofit or public organizations. In this unique experiential learning course,
students tackle complex projects for real clients, while receiving coaching
from McKinsey consultants and experienced faculty.

Paul
Jansen is Adjunct Professor at Haas and Senior Partner
Emeritus from McKinsey & Company where he co-founded and led the Global
Nonprofit Practice serving leading nonprofits and foundations on issues of
strategy and organization. He is the author/co-author of articles and reports
challenging sector beliefs about performance, including: The Nonprofit Sector’s
$100 Billion Opportunity, The Dynamic Board: Lessons from High-Performing
Nonprofits, and The Winner Is. . . Capturing the Promise of Philanthropic
Prizes.
Nora Silver is Adjunct Professor and Director of the Center for Social Sector Leadership at Haas. She brings over 30 years of leadership experience as a two-time social sector founder, executive director, board member, and funder of social sector organizations. She has consulted internationally with more than 200 organizations, authored books and articles on leadership and community involvement and lectured at universities and conferences around the world.
