ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
Seminars in International Business use a country or combination of countries to illustrate how business environments (and responses to those environments) vary around the globe. The program examines a variety of sectors and companies (local, international, start-up and established) with the goal of developing insights into the factors that influence and underpin local business practice and the skills to navigate in such unfamiliar global waters.
Led by Haas faculty with considerable global business experience, the course begins with extensive pre-departure lectures, study and research. The in-country portion typically includes 2-3 daily visits to carefully selected companies and relevant institutions. Talks by academics, journalists and political leaders and exchanges with local business schools often supplement the program. The goal is to get beneath the surface and to understand what makes business tick in a particular national context, what makes it special, what are its challenges, and what is its future.
