TEXTBOOK: Lundholm, R. and R. Sloan, Equity Analysis and Valuation with eVal, McGraw-Hill/Irwin (Book and CD-ROM third edition), 2007.

BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE: Case write ups, class participation, group project, and final exam.

ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES: This course (i) provides you with a framework for business analysis and valuation using financial statement data, and (ii) shows you how to apply this framework to a variety of business decisions. The course assumes that you have a good working knowledge of accounting, finance, economics and business strategy. The focus is on integrating key concepts from each of these areas and applying them to financial decision-making.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Panos N. Patatoukas is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Haas School of Business. Prior to joining Haas, Panos received his PhD in Accounting & Finance from Yale University. His current research focuses on the implications of supply-chain linkages for financial statement analysis and stock market valuation, as well as the impact of fundamental news on stock prices at the firm-level and at the macro-level.
