MEETING DAY(S)/TIME:  Mondays and Wednesdays 4:00-6:00.  

**NOTE THE UNUSUAL MEETING TIMES FOR THIS COURSE**

Two Monday classes will be three hours long (4:10-7:00 PM) to accommodate student

presentations.  Students should only register for the course if they are free on Monday

evenings for the entire 4:10--7:00PM time block.  The date of the final class meeting

will be 12/4.

PREREQUISITE(S):     BA203

CLASS FORMAT:

In most class sessions, a leading investment professional will spend the first half

the class discussing his or her general investment philosophy. In the

second half of the class, students, the practitioner, and the instructors

will explore the investment merits of at least one specific company.

REQUIRED READINGS :

There are no required texts.  Case-related reading material (such as

quarterly and annual reports) will be handed out in class.  There is a

substantial amount of reading required for the weekly case studies.

BASIS FOR FINAL GRADE:

Class participation (35%), weekly assignments (15%), and two

investment projects (50% total).

ABSTRACT OF COURSE'S CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:

This course will introduce students to a variety of investment styles and

strategies as practiced by leading investment professionals.  In most class sessions,

the guest lecturer will spend approximately one-half of the class discussing

his or her general investment philosophy.  In the other half of the class, students,

the practitioner, and the instructors will explore the investment merits of at least

one specific company. The company will be identified in advance and students

will be expected to use the library's resources, material handed out in class, and

their ingenuity to address a set of pre-specified questions relating to the

firm's investment value.  Students will be expected to come to class

prepared to discuss and hand in their answers.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:

Hannah Sullivan is a General Partner of Fremont Ventures within the Fremont Group

and focuses on early stage venture capital opportunities.  Prior to Fremont

Ventures, Hannah was a Director of the private equity firm Fox Paine &

Company.  Before that, Ms. Sullivan spent six years at Robertson Stephens &

Company where she managed and/or was an analyst on several funds. Ms. Sullivan

received her BA from Cornell University and MBA from the Haas School in 1992.
